Compass Harbor Trail is a 0.8 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Bar Harbor, Maine that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Acadia National Park charges a fee to enter. Fees are $30 per vehicle or $25 per motorcycle. If you are entering on foot, horse, or bike the fee is $15 per person. You can also purchase a park specific annual pass for $55. Please note that there is plenty of parking directly off route 3 but the lot is not marked.
Amazing views of the porcupines and ocean. Some nice big rocks along the shore you can climb if you wish. A great spot to dip your feet in and or take a dip!
For a 2.5 year old this was perfect! We hiked with 6 month old in backpack and 2.5 yo hiked the whole thing, explored rocky beach and had a picnic. Loved throwing rocks into the ocean. Great views without the crowds of rocky beaches off of shore path. Short quick hike but great for when the toddlers are tired of being carried and need some free reign. Not too many roots or rocks for tripping over. Simple hike but great views make it fun for everyone
Excellent easy hike. The entire family had a great time. There are several places to access the beach & the water is crystal clear. Beautiful scenery, peaceful. We applied Off at the trail head & were not bothered by bugs at all.
We loved this trail!! The trail is wide and mostly under the cover of mature trees. Its pretty level until you get to the end, where you can climb on the rocks. The ocean at the end of the trail is spectacular. It was so quiet and we just loved watching the waves roll in and out. You can access quite a bit of shoreline here. Very few mosquitoes, and the only other bugs we saw were red ants (easily avoided). It was not crowded at all. We loved this trail so much that we plan to bring the rest of our family back later this week.
beautiful day hike of about 9 miles, took 5 hours but it waa absolutely beautiful. reccomend a decent pair of boots as its a bit wet. and a jacket for the elevation, 10 out of 10 will do again.
