We thought the trail was a little short so we tacked on a little extra. We were a little worried about ice on the trails, and we have already done the North and South ridge trails, so we thought we'd just take it easy and take the road up since it was closed for the season. There was something really enjoyable about having the roads and the mountain top to ourselves. I kept taking pictures of the completely empty road on the way up. There were a few nice waterfalls from the rock ledges, that were a really nice unexpected surprise as well. If you do go up the road this time of year, just look out for black ice, it seems to be even more prevalent in the road where it passes over the drainage culverts. We didn't see anyone the entire way up, we even sat in some of the steps to have lunch on the loop trail, so of course no sooner did we start eating did to hikers show up out of the blue. But other than that, I highly recommend taking this trail off season when the road is closed, if it is during the summer, don't even bother, you won't be able to enjoy the view with the hundreds of people smothering the top of the mountain like ants on an ant hill.

Amazing spot for a sunrise! Though there are a lot of people.

Very easy, not a hike, only a little walk with nice views I guess when the weather is nice..unfortunately I was not lucky enough as the mountain was the whole day in clouds.

Not a hike, more of a “I parked my car and walked 500 feet to the views”. Nonetheless, it’s a great pay off for such little effort. Great views.

It really is a must do, and worth the hype. Try it in the morning AFTER sunrise madness is over. It’s lovely around 7:30-8 in fall on a semi clear or clear morning.

Easy summit loop with gorgeous views. Of course it'll be crowded no matter when you go, since it's the highest peak in the park and there's an auto road leading up it, but don't let it deter you. There is very little forestation, so you get 360 degree views. The summit loop isn't really a hike. You can drive up the mountain, park, and just walk around. But it's definitely worth it/a must-see when you come to Acadia.

Even on an off season day it was impossible to find parking at the summit. If you are looking for solitude this isn’t the place. The views are spectacular and worth braving the crowds. If you are willing to walk a bit then park at the lot just before you get to the top lot (it’s on the left) and it’s less than three minutes to the top lot from there. The view is a five star view but the crowds reset detract a bit.

I tried 2 days before in the afternoon after hiking Gorham Mountain in the morning and it was too busy to find parking. Tried again yesterday after hiking Great Head trail and got to the top but clouds and wind made if difficult to see 20 feet in front of me. Today I went up before 10 and I am glad I did. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and the views are amazing. Very easy hike and plenty of areas to wander around off the path to soak in the beauty of the area. Even though it was very windy along the path it was worth the time.

2019.09.04 On a windy and rainy day when clouds are lower than the peak there’s nothing to see. Visibility that we got today was 20 yards 360.

Cadillac mountain south ridge trail...very cool. Looked like a moon scape for a lot of it. Of course, it was very foggy! Finally cleared at the summit

Short walking trail. The story here is not really the trail but the view from Cadillac mountain. Parking can be a challenge during peak season so go early or late but not during peak hours.

Very easy trail. Great for an easy stroll at the summit. Fun to do at night (bring a flashlight or head light) for star gazing and to see your moon shadow.

Tiny paved trail at the top of Cadillac. It’s really crowded, but has some nice views of the island. If you’re up there you might as well check it out.

The top of Cadillac Mountain provides some beautiful vistas of the area but I wouldn’t say much for the trail. It’s paved, crowded and frequented by many folks who drove up the mountain for the view, not to hike. Walk the trail if you are there but I wouldn’t drive up the mountain for the ‘hike’, there are too many other great trails in the park.
