The Belfast Rail Trail is an educational, easy walk along the river. We enjoyed reading about the history of Belfast and the railroad. This is a broad, flat trail that ends after 2.2 miles at a set of train tracks and several old rail cars from the Belfast/Moosehead Railroad. A lovely walk. Also, take the time to cross the Armistice Bridge for beautiful views of Belfast Harbor.

Super easy walk. Flat and graveled with good views of the water alongside it. One of my toddler’s favorites because he likes to “run fast”. We only went about half a mile Before heading back.

Well maintained 2.3 mile rail trail that passes through woods alongside the Passagassawakeag River. The trail is relatively flat with a packed gravel and crushed stone surface. Likely to be busy in peak season with bikes and walkers. Not too many bugs in mid June. Quantity of wildlife\bird life a little disappointing.

very good kept trail, took my 7 year old daughter on this trail and she did fine. We brought our bikes and she was able to keep her balance without going off trail.

Went in winter. Not a groomed trail. used poles. Pleasant. Much of it parallels the road. No out in the woods feel. Will definitely do again though.

Nice trail for anyone who wants to get out of the bustle of central Belfast for a few minutes. Views of the docks, bay, and passagasawaukeag river. Occasionally an osprey, too.

Hats off to the town of Belfast for developing the rail track. We enjoyed an 8km morning walk while visiting for a couple of days.

Beautiful easy hike or bike along the river. This Rail Trail also connects to a shorter Harbor Walk trail which has excellent views while you walk right through Front Street Shipyard, an active shipyard.

this is an easy walk, very level. I don't consider it hiking. we are so fortunate to have these trails in our home town.

Beautiful city walk rail trail, pea gravel base. The two trail heads are near the City Point train station and at the foot of Pierce St at the end of the foot bridge. Or you can park at the midway point at Upper Bridge and go either way.
