Great view at top, steep rocky incline
There is a trail on back side with parking and short walk for those that would prefer an easier walk

Fantastic trail! Very steep and rocky; elevation gain is 975ft. in 0.75 miles. You need to be really careful on your way to the summit. The views are one of the best in Acadia in my opinion, both on the way up and on the summit. I did not like this ugly fire tower on the summit, looks very odd and out of place.

WOW what a great hike up through the woods to the open face ledges. Awesome views for over 1/2 the climb. Come out to the fire-tower and awesome views from there. It was steep in places during the climb but nothing extreme. Will do again. Did as part of loop went back down South Ridge Trail.
