From Echo Lake-4 ladders reach the summit. Dry conditions-otherwise could be slick. I will bring my daughter next trip. She’s young, but capable and confident enough to climb and descend the ladders. Great time-beautiful place!

Extremely nice hike and trail. Great views at the top especially with the fire tower

This is a beautiful hike with a great view of Echo Lake and surrounding area. April is great for no people and even less bugs! Went for a dip in the lake after, very refreshing.

In February do NOT forget your spikes-you’ll need them but it’s not a hard trail at all even with the ice and snow. Th e views are great. The dog and I got there early and had it all to ourselves! The parking lot is not plowed. You have to park at the gate which a quick walk, .3mile to the trail head. This trail is to the right if you’re facing the parking lot. There’s another straight beyond the lot. I combined this trail with Canada Cliffs and Beech Ledges. The Ledges are totally worth it!! (Canada not so much). If you’re in the parking lot put the mountain behind you. The Beech Cliffs loop is on the other side. It’s a super short walk for a great set of views.

Hiked the loop February 16, 2020. Recommend micro spikes but trail had a good layer of snow over ice. Beautiful day and had entire mountain to ourselves!

This is a great, short trail. The hike itself is very nice, and very rocky. The views at the top are amazing, and the fire tower is an added bonus. I was tempted to bump this down to a 4 of 5 for the very icy February trail conditions. It was recommended to me as very easy by a number of locals, and as such left my spikes and poles at the hotel. Definitely a bad idea, really bad idea. 80% of the trails were essentially a frozen creek. Would do it again, any time of year, but not in winter without spikes. Note that the parking is closed for winter, but you can park on the road and walk up to the trailhead.

I hiked this trail over the summer with the dog, and loved it. I just did it again with two kids (ages 7 and 9), and they loved it as much as I did. They begged for more hikes just like it—mission accomplished!! In mid-November and on a day when the temp was below freezing, the trail was a bit icy in sections where the ground was damp, and on some of the rocks, so we did have to be a bit careful. We went left at the fork, so up the rocks, then came down the longer/flatter side. Views were incredible, especially at the top and coming down.

Great moderate and quick hike. Steep and rocky but not super hard - especially the length. Cool and green

Amazing little hike with incredible views if you have a clear day. If you’d rather an easier, more gradual incline to the summit, stay to the right when the loop diverges. If you’d rather a quicker but steeper route to the fire tower, take the left path. Both beautiful!

Rocky and steep but incredible views. Open house at fire tower.

Quick and moderate difficult trail, we got up and down in about an hour and had a small stop on the top of the mountain with fire tower view. I would recommend to go with a longer path (1.1km) in the beggining.

Great loop with the fire tower view from the top. Recommend taking the first left onto the loop trail. Large flat rock outcrops and a ton of rock steps. Easier going up and not as slick on the rock face going down!

The views are beautiful- definitely worth the climb. We turned left at the first fork, so we climbed the steeped side first. At the top by the fire tower there are options to take longer hikes. We opted for the shorter route to the parking lot as it was a rather humid day & our 10 year old dog was getting tired. Well trafficked, but not super crowded. Tons of blueberry bushes, but the berries weren’t ready to pick yet.

Good day hike for a family. Not difficult and has some pretty sick views throughout the hike.

I am a relatively new hiker and I enjoyed this hike. We had beautiful weather. It was a little difficult for me but I enjoyed the experience and would love to go back as I become more comfortable with hiking and coming down the rocky parts.

While the hike itself is not too challenging and nothing to write home about, there are some very cool features along the way. The fire tower is a very neat, and while you can't get up into it, the stairs are mostly accessible. The view of Long Pond (look at the Photos section above you'll see it plenty of times) was in my opinion one of the most beautiful views in Acadia.

We did this hike with two older adults, 2 younger adults and a 2 year old. Beautiful views. Definitely a moderate hike. But I feel anyone one with a few hikes can probably do this one.

Great family hike, moderate intensity at times but easy for kids (my youngest is 10).

A fairly hot and sunny hike to views from the summit of Beech Mountain. Somewhat rocky, especially on the shorter east arm. Fire tower on Beech Mountain is closed, but the views are still fantastic. Overall, nice reward for moderate effort.

Gorgeous views of nearby lakes/ocean from summit with numerous viewing spots prior to summit. Easy quick hike compared to other Acadia summits. I like how the trailhead is located on a dead end road. This less popular side of Acadia National Park is a must hike.

Go up the steeper route, it’ll make for a great view on the way down! Took about 45min, rewarding smaller hike.

Great hike, not too difficult but would not bring younger children that need assistance. Awesome views at the top
