Bauneg Beg Conservation Area in North Berwick includes 89 acres of deciduous forest land surrounding the 866-foot, three-peaked Bauneg Beg Mountain. The land was acquired by Great Works Regional Land Trust in three parts over the course of seven months in 2000 and 2001. The 0.65-mile trail winds through a deciduous forest, a pine grove and a section of large boulders described as "Devil's Den" before reaching the highest of the three peaks. Trail forks just before the summit with a choice of routes to the top. Easier trail veers to the right. Rocky outcroppings offer views of nearby Mount Hope, parts of south Sanford and, according to Great Works Regional Land Trust, on a clear day, Mount Washington to the northwest and the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast.

This is a great little trail. Covered in people yelling at each other and smoking pot and cigarettes, so...

Lovely early January hike in the snow. Did the full hike in about 1:30 with some stops to admire the scenery and met others just doing the loop and it took them about an hour. Snow on the trail for just the loop was packed enough that shoes with good tread were fine. If there had been fresh snow we would have worn snowshoes and they would have been nice for the far stretch on the other end of the loop, which was much less traveled/packed down.

Hiked the normal smaller Bauneg Beg and then bushwhacked up the old logging road/snowmobile trail to the official summit. Good amount of road side parking if there is no snow. Otherwise there is a trailhead parking lot on the northeast side of the mountain

great trail, about an hour to finish, between easy and moderate, well taken care of, few vantage points

love it during the Fall/Autumn month. It's pretty much all incline even though it is short so I would call it more of a hike. The foliage is beautiful!

nice hike - missed part of the trail somehow - close to home so will be back for sure - want to do once more before we try snowshoeing there this winter

Peaceful hike on well-groomed trails. Views are worth the scramble over the boulders.

If I could rate this more than 5 stars, I would. Awesome, peaceful walk through the woods, will definitely repeat. Would assess more on the easy side, and highly recommend.

Trail got a tad confusing in a few spots. Very quick and easy hike. Not even close to what I would consider moderate.
