a very footy trail. lots of angles, loose rocks and roots. moderate/aggressive start on the bald face trail, however the last 1/3 of the trail is very rolly/flat with great stops/views.

This is a challenging but excellent way to ascend Pleasant Mountain. It's a steady climb but shaded with some great views along the way. We opted to take Sue's/North Ridge on the way up and it was worth it for the added views. Some water was available near the base but really nothing after the first mile or so. The bugs were minimal, which was a treat. Will definitely hike again!

As a trail run, this is nowwhere near as good at the Ledges or SW Ridge trails. The trail is rather steep and not well switch-backed, and there are plentiful roots. Trail work has been done in recent years, and that may have improved things for runners. However, once you reach the Bald Peak summit (limited but nice views), the remainder of the trail south to the main summit is wonderful. A good running alternative is to go up Ledges, then north to Bald Peak, and then reverse it. Very pleasant (pun intended). As a hike, I would bump this up to four stars.

3/31/19 Trail was packed down good but snow covered so highly recommend having some good traction boots. Amazing views the entire hike!

Took the bald peak trail to summit on 3-17-19 . Trail had many postholes and snow had refrozen making trail very choppy. Still a good hike great views.

This was a fun hike, and great for dogs! We hiked this in about three hours today. Lots of leaves... and a smidge slippery... the trail is recently updated with nice clear markers! One of my favorites !

A little to steep for me. Came down this trail after going up Ledges trail. Then walked back to the car about 1.5 miles. It was a great day to hike.

Took this trail up to the summit, steady and steep elevation the first mile but the view is absolutely worth it. The trail was wet and slippery in some of the more challenging places so we opted to come down via the Ledges trail and hiked about a mile and a half down the road back to the Bald Peak Trail parking lot. Would probably do this trail again after exploring all the other trails on the mountain.

Very fun hike, the first mile and a half suck and make you curse as it is a steep climb up. It eventually gets better and is worth the view from the summit, would recommend!

The view is worth the challenge. We'll maintained trail, thank you to the volunteers who were working so hard when we were there.

Really nice hike, the first mile is all elevation and the traverse over to the main summit is beautiful. 3rd time up Pleasant Mtn and this might be my favorite trail. Trail was in great shape and mosquitoes were at a minimum. Blue markers were great and the view is great!!

Great trail. As others have said, the first mile gets the heart pumping. The trail is very well marked and the summit is well worth the effort. The hike from Bald Peak to the fire tower on Pleasant Mountain is a great, mostly flat stroll with amazing views to the East and West.

Not for beginners. The first 1.4 miles is a workout, the last mile to the Summit is fairly level and worth the view. Very well marked by the blue markers, without them, I may have found myself lost a few times.

First time hike on this trail. Pretty aggressive terrain, awesome hike! My son really liked it and Gunner (mans best friend) loved it as well! I'd recommend this hike to anyone!

I thought this was a really challenging and fun hike. Lots of complaints about mosquitos along the way, but that's just kind of a given in spring. Ticks are another story...watch out! At about 1300' I came to the sign for Sue's Way. .5 miles -> Sounded harmless enough, so I veered off to the right, and it was a pretty brutal .5 mile. You gain about 500', but you work for it going up this steep creek bed. The sun was glaring on me because there was no tree cover over the creek, and the mosquitos were swarming over me and I was out of breath and my legs were weak. Finally, it leveled off and I emerged at the chair lift for Shawnee Peak. The breezes plus a drink and a snack revived me and I was on my way. The North Ridge Trail heads right from the ski area, or you can descend Sue's Way and rejoin Bald Peak Trail for you ascent. I went right, and it's a nice section. Here you first see huge slabs of rock, pines stunted by the wind and great views of Mt. Washington. Bald Peak itself is awesome. There are plenty of rocky overlooks where you can soak in different views and catch your breath. From there it was a series of up and down hiking between smaller peaks along the ridge through forest. Eventually it connects with the Fire warden's Trail (which I hiked years ago, and found it to be longer and much less interesting) just shy of the summit. Here you will find some bare ledges, a fire tower, other hikers emerging from other trails and tremendous, sweeping views of wooded valleys and distant peaks. I suffered physically, but then I'm out of shape. The rewards were worth it.

Part of Pleasant Mountain, this trail rocks. Pretty steep for the first hour or so, but manageable. Took us about 3 hours (with breaks) to get to the main summit. And a little over 1 hour back down. Beautiful views if you don't want to do the whole hike. Would highly recommend.

This is a steep climb to the Bald Peak summit. The trail does continue to the summit of Pleasant Mountain. The first mile follows a mountain stream with plenty of waterfalls along the way.
