July 4, 2020 from 5:45 am to 9:00 am What an amazing trail! I am new to hiking, so this trail was difficult for me. The incline is very steep most of the way up. I took breaks every so often, and luckily there are rocks to do so along the way! Bring water, bug spray, food, and a light long sleeve just in case (for the summit). There were several spots that appeared to be the summit, but were not! Keep going! I wore jeans, a short sleeve, a ball cap, and regular sneakers. I would recommend hiking shoes (it was slick in areas on the way down - muddy in a couple spots). I am so thrilled that I went and completed the hike! Amazing views at the summit!

04Jun2020 - This was my first time here. It’s not a long hike but it is relentlessly uphill. Was a nice hike, glad there was a breeze, when the breeze died down, the bugs were hungry. The views are excellent, especially for a shorter mountain. You meet the nicest people hiking - take time to enjoy them and your surroundings!!!

The majority of this trail is an uphill trek on what seems like dirt and rock stairs surrounded by thick woods. Not much to see until you reach the clearing at the top, but the views are beautiful and exploring the “bald” clearings was enjoyable. It was very buggy, so bring bug spray!

I really enjoyed this hike! Good challenge but not totally overwhelming either because it’s fairly short.

A steep but worth it hike! Definitely a workout— very uphill and you have to scramble in some places. Also very buggy, but the view was gorgeous! We only did Bald peak but you can also go on to Saddleback peak.

Completed May 16, 2020: So I’m basically an outright beginner when it comes to hiking, but decided to just go for this one. So worth it! The initial ascent through the trees is a workout, steep steep steep. Once getting out of the woods and onto the rock face, my motivation perked up 100x to keep going. It was very windy so bring a light layer (you won’t need it in the beginning, but glad I brought one!). Beautiful sights! Breathe, take it in... Because going down is gonna be rough. It’s very slick (trickling water over the rocks and moss, but no snow/ice on the trail) and when added to the steep grade of the mountain, I fell a handful of times (nothing serious). I’m sure trekking poles would be handy. I just used trees and took it slow. I SAW SO MANY KIDS DOING THIS HIKE WITH FAMILIES. If they can do it, and if I can do it lol, you can too. I’m gonna come back to complete Saddleback, and I’m stoked.

Marked well! A great workout and a really beautiful summit to end with! Next time I’ll continue to the other trail, but only did bald this time due to all the snow and ice! (Went two weeks ago!)

Hiked the trail today! If your looking for a great workout, this trail is for you! Steep incline the entire time. Some mud, ice and snow. Makes for a slick trek back to the bottom. The views at the top is well worth the heavy breathing and short breaks. Can’t wait to tackle this mountain again!

Hiked Sunday 4/19. Packed snow and ice. Would recommend picks. Hiking was good, however there were too many people on the trail! Cabin fever I guess!

As other posters have said this trail starts steep & continues to be steep the entire time. I'm not in great shape but stopping when I needed to I made it just fine. The views are spectacular. The trails were packed down & we just used Yak Traks, which were fine. A few icy spots on the rock scramble but nothing that stopped us. Highly recommend the hike.

Hit this trail again! Better in the winter! Beautiful views. Many people hike this trail, I was surprised. Icy, so during winter, watch your step.

Challenging hike with many steep sections, although the hike only took us three hours round trip (and we relaxed at the peak for quite a while). A large portion of this hike is on exposed rock despite the fact the peak of this mountain is only at a couple thousand feet. Spectacular 360 degree views of the surrounding area—probably the best views of any ~2000 foot mountain I’ve ever hiked! This is definitely a hike that should be on everyone’s bucket list!!!
