A small loop that goes by a small backwater pond and loops up a ridge. This trail has a lot of storm damage and it's obvious they are not going to fix it. I still enjoyed it and appreciate that it is not closed. I have seen many places in the Midwest that would just close it for good, so enjoy it as it is still available and hopefully will remain so.
Different kind of a trail, felt more like just walking in the woods than on a trail as trail isn’t used much or maintained very well. There are blue and orange marker tags throughout, we went right and actually lost the trail about halfway through. The bridge at the beginning has some boards out and the end of the bridge is a little bit under the water. Loved the huge cypress trees at the beginning (best view of the trail imho). We had a few ticks and also walked right past a huge snake. Probably won’t hike again but it was fun exploring, also the lock and dam views nearby is a cool view and great photo op.
