Ponchatoula Area Recreation District (PARD) PARD is primarily a ball field for local little league activities. There are three concrete walking paths with the main path circling the park. The outer path is 1.7 miles and is a nice walk with plenty shade for summer walking. Dogs, skateboards, scooters, loud music, alcohol and other unwanted acts are plainly listed as prohibited by the several signs abound. The walking path is mostly away from the ball field activities so you shouldn’t have a lot of people setting up chairs on the path like some do on a few other parks in the area. It is a well-kept area that also has an indoor walking track at the eastern edge of the property. Accessibility: This asphalt trail is estimated to typically be at least 6 feet wide. The slope is mostly gentle and estimated to range from -4% (downhill) to 2% (uphill) grade. There are at least 6 ADA-compliant car parking spots with access aisles at the large paved trailhead lot.

Kind of a family friendly type of vibe, which was lame. That said there were a few hidden gem jaw droppers and beautiful birds of all species.

Walking

Very nice, well-maintained track for walking. Excellent municipal sports complex. We walked the course clockwise then turned around to get the reverse perspective.

Great area for training runs. Gets a bit busy in the evenings after everyone gets off work. Sidewalk runs thru park and around.

Beautiful park. Very well maintained. Good traffic, felt safe. Clean restrooms. Plenty of benches to rest. Beautiful pond. We counted 9 ducks today and 1 Crain. Path around park is asphalt. Stroller friendly. No dogs. Pond is catch and release. Family friendly. Children’s Play ground is well maintained and close to track. Zero problems. We will be back.

First to Review

Nice park for walking. The path is far enough away from the ball field so that you can walk without having to walk around people setting up chairs on the walking path. Dogs are NOT allowed which is nice. Fishing is allowed in the small lake but its catch and release only. On my next trip I'll take photos.
