Beautiful drive. Allow time for stops, maybe a hike. The Longleaf Vista trail is beautiful and easy enough for most visitors.

Great drive through the forest leading to a number of great trails. The Longleaf interpretive short 1.5 mile loop is a must if time doesn't allow for a longer one.

Make sure you read the description. It is a scenic byways, not a hiking trail. The 17.2 miles is all road through some beautiful country. There is a Longleaf Vista Trail (1.5 miles) that loops at the Longleaf Recreation area, but that is not this trail.

Used to love riding around the whole area both the ranger district and the logging roads in my jeep with the top down. Miss those days. The main road and several others are the only ones paved. The dirt roads in the district are taken care of really well. Don’t go on the logging roads without 4 wheel drive though.

This is not a trail. It’s just a long road in a forest. I’m not sure if I’m missing something but I drove for miles and it was just a road. We were very disappointed.
