I-20 East to the last Ruston exit(Farmerville). Turn left on HWY 33 heading North approx 3 miles. Park is on your left. Look for the big green sign. Most people park down near the swimming area. There are bathrooms, camping areas, etc.
Trail was clear and pretty well identified. Dogs ARE allowed in this park, but they have to be on a leash. Good, flat woods trails for running. Really enjoyed it but it’s definitely not a hike
We didn't get to do the whole trail because they were having a bike race but just walking around the lake was a great way to spend an afternoon. It's a beautiful area.
I bought a Mongoose to navigate this trail. There were a lot of above-ground and exposed roots on the path—be prepared for a bumpy ride. There are two trails: beginners and advanced. They are intertwined. There is also a nominal fee of three dollars, per person, to enter the park which closes at 8PM. I was completely exhausted after I completed this one. It was a great workout. It is a very well-kept trail.
I would recommend this trail for anybody who is into any level of mountain biking. There are so many different options you could ride this location 10 times and not cross The same section of trail twice. For a hiker looking to get started out this is very much the way to go. The park itself is immaculate. And that is not overstating things in the slightest. The parish parks staff do an absolute excellent job of maintaining the facilities. The best time to come is obviously in the middle of the week. The park office opens at 8 AM. Get here early and you can have the pick of where you want to set up shop. They provide both RV and tent sites. I Hammock camped in the tent section where they provide fire rings with a swivel grill if you want to grill something and they even provide 110 power outlets for camp lights and such. They also sell wood for three dollars a bundle however you’re better off bringing your own because they cut it and sell it immediately, meaning green unseasoned wood. I will be coming back and I will be bringing a fishing pole!
As many people have told me, this really is a nice park. The grounds are well maintained and the facilities were very clean. Showers were nice and hot. Most of the unpaved trails are for bikes, but we found the short Tree Trail loop that was nice. Only complaint is that there isn’t a separate area for group camping. At 11pm a Boy Scout troop rolled in with a large cargo trailer into tent sites near ours. They weren’t very quiet obviously as hey set up several tents. If you’re and RV camper or mountain bike enthusiast, this is the park for you!
Love this singletrack trail!! Even after several visits, it still doesn't disappoint. Be sure to pack a tent and stay the weekend. The trails consist of the primary trail and a beginner trail. The primary trail is approx. 10 miles and has a little bit over everything such as, switchbacks, fast downhills, jumps, straight hill-climbs, etc... The beginner is a great place to start if you're just looking for an easy off-road ride or new to MTB'ing. There are also hikers/trail runners on the trail at times so everyone watch out for each other :)
Really beautiful park. I'm not sure where the 10 miles of trails were unless you add them all together...the paved and the dirt/bike trails. Very nice paved trail around the lake and then you can get on the dirt/bike trails in different spots from there. Will definitely go back.
Visited this park for the promise of top notch trails. Had a very pleasant experience and there is definitely good quality trail. Since I wasn't feeling like an all-star I completed approximately half of the bicycle trail (10 mile). The trail is very footy and definitely heavily used. Therewere some areas that were dull and uninteresting but the technical areas of trail made up for it. The trail crosses the main road several times as well as the easy trail so it's easy to exit if you're having an off day or just not feeling it. Glad we made the drive out, take a tent and make a weekend of the park!
While working close by some friends and I drive down to ride this trail and it was worth the drive. One of the guys said it would be worth a 3 hour drive from Little Rock on a Saturday. The trail is well kept and marked, it has a lot of fun woops and downhills. Not to rocky on most of it. It seemed to me miles 7 & 8 were the most difficult but you can always jump off trail back on paved road if need be. This is easily one of my new favorite trails to ride. I rode it in close to an hour pushing hard for me and a friend that just started rode it in just over 1.5 hours. This is a must do if you are ever in the area!
