Nice little trail for our Sunday hike. Enough elevation for some good exercise and also has a view of the lake most of the way. Nice little sandy bottom creek with a few different species of crawfish. Wooden bridge about a mile in from Pine Street where we parked. Saw some bluegill and other fish. Big gar slapping the water. Fun time on a Sunday evening.

Nice Trail Really Enjoyed My Saturday Morning There Were A Few Trees Blown Across The Trail From The Storms That Blew Through Early Thursday But Other Then That The Trail Was Very Nice And A Good Change Of Pace For Getting Out And Getting Some Exercise

The trail was great! We saw some squirrels, baby hogs, lots of turtles, and some deer. They had some nice views and the lookout point had a beautiful view over the reservoir. This trail offered a great camping experience.

Good hike. Wild hogs are around so keep pets leashed for everyone’s safety.

Great hike with barely noticeable rolling hills and very well marked. Low traffic. We went the opposite direction of trail mile marker signs, but it doesn't matter what direction you go in. There were a few wet areas that are closer to the lake that appear to be runoff streams, but all were manageable with hiking shoes. I expect recent rain may worsen the conditions. Wildlife - birds, squirrels, lizards, garter snake, speckled king snake, turtles, ducks and 2 wild boars. We noticed the boars from the other side of the lake which made last half of the hike a bit unnerving. We did not see them again, but there was evidence of very recent rooting directly on the trail. That was between the trail's actual beginning and 3 mile marked point. There were a few picnic tables off the trail in some areas. We ate lunch at an open picnic table where the RV's typically reserve because it was close enough when we were ready. The beach and day use areas are closed for use, but it is part of the trail that you walk on. Bugs were starting to show up bc of the temp increase so bring your spray! One application was good for the whole hike.

Late March hike - perfect conditions. Wild azaleas and dogwoods in full bloom. Gently rolling trail through mixed pine/hardwood/magnolia forest. Follow the lake shore with good views. Trail is open to foot traffic and bikes. Highly recommend.
