Acadiana Nature Station Loop is a 1.8 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Lafayette, Louisiana that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips.
Note: As of 9/26/20, the boardwalk is currently closed. For more information, please see https://www.facebook.com/naturestation
We went in early January, and the trails were a bit muddy, but nothing we couldn't detour around. We did both the Moonseed Loop and the Nature Station Loop, totaling a little over 5 miles. The trails were very well-marked and easy to follow. I would definitely rate them as easy, but there were a few more 'fun' spots, with some more up and down parts. Overall, we had a very fun few hours enjoying some surprisingly long trails very close to town.
Fantastic trails. There are some areas of the trails that hold water/mud. South-East quarter of the boardwalk loop has downed trees over the walkway in two places. You can follow the trails to get around it. Loved it but could use some debris removal.
Nice trails. Walked them on a chilly Dec. weekday. A few trees down from summer storms but there are workarounds and full circuit is possible. EVEN the major boardwalk marked "closed" can be navigated if you are somewhat nimble. Stopped at nature center and had nice talk with Kyle, the manager. Worth a visit if you have time.
Really good walk and not heated at all. Come early unless it’s the fall.
I used to live across the street from Acadiana Park and have walked this loop many times. I recently took a bunch of Kindergarten aged Cub Scouts here for their first hike. it's a great easy trail for just enjoying nature and the main trail is all board walk, so it's even good if you just want to get away for a breather at lunch without getting your shoes dirty.
