This doesn't show the whole trail. We thought we were at the top but realized that there was a part of the trail we missed. Then we saw the spectacular view even in the summer. Follow the white diamonds all the way to the very top and you'll be glad you did!

Trail was well maintained and the view of the lake at the top was pretty cool.

the trail was very dirty. alot of debris washed up on the shore from the lake. I did this trail about a year ago though so it may have been cleaned up since then.

rating it a 3 because I thought I would see the view in the picture. I had only forest views. although it is June, so perhaps the views are only visible in winter/fall (there were only a few trees in the way at the top). without a view at the top, it was really just a path to nothing and then the same path back out. I was still able to catch the sunset at the beach at the campground, so all is good. Seems like a nice place to camp so far.

This is an amazing place to camp. Sites are spaced well with great privacy. Some sites are close to the lake (Cave Run Lake). Modern restrooms with showers on each loop. Usually a camp host on each loop as well. There is a boat ramp, beach, and a little camp store that has firewood and some basic food items. It is a way from town (Salt Lick) so double check everything before you leave home. There is a trail that takes you to an old fire tower. You can't climb up it anymore though. It fell victim to fire and is unsafe. If you like car camping, fishing, hiking, and privacy, Zilpo is the place to experience it.
