Hike around the lake, suspension bridge, paved walkway, camping area Vastwood Park is a 340 acre park with a 19 acre lake as its centerpiece. This loop trail takes you around the entire lake. The trail is paved, and offers very gentle, rolling terrain. There is a suspension bridge over part of the lake, built for foot traffic only. The trail will take you past a swimming area, beachhouse and the campsite (12 sites with electric and water). There is a graveled spur trail that leads you up a hill, which offers a very lovely view of the park and of the surrounding forested terrain. The spur trail is the only significant elevation gain of the hike.

The trail is actually more like 1.2 miles. In some places the tree roots have buckled the pavement. Not very well lit on the backside of the trail. Because of that reason I will only run this trail during daylight hours. It is however, a very clean & pretty park.
