The shoreline trail is barely recognizable it is so over grown and un-maintained I was extremely disappointed. This could be a beautiful trail because it goes right on the lakes edge but it hasn’t been trimmed or maintained in any way. Very sad.

We were actually camping in Zilpo but came over to the area to explore. The trail head was fairly easy to find because its on the main camping road next to a parking lot. The lot was full though so we parked a short distance away by a camping loops bathroom. The hike is not hard but a slow steady climb. However, it is absolutely boring. The summit offers no views of the lake when there's leaves on the trees, maybe in winter you can actually see the lake. If you just want some exercise or are bored, the hike is okay. If you like a rewarding view or interesting scenery, this hike will be disappointing.

Gorgeous paddle at sunset. Lake is quiet, only a few boats passed by.

3/4/20- The trail was in good order this time of year. Excellent point to see Cave Run lake. We had to park at Alfrey boat ramp to walk in. Nice day to hike.

$10/car load. Nicely shaded walking path. 4-5 benches throughout the trail. Beautiful view and place to sit and rest at the top. Just enough for beginners.

Great little trail to get the heart rate up on the way up. There are some nice views of the lake and a real nice view up top.

gotta pay $10 to get to the trail. start of the trail is surrounded by camp sites, later in the trail has some good views of the lake. can't way it was worth paying to hike tho.

If you're looking for great views or unique geological formations then this trail isn't for you, but if you love other aspects of walking in the forest, then you may be pleasantly surprised like I was. I'm really into mycology, so finding loads of chanterelle mushrooms on the way to the top of the knob automatically made this hike enjoyable for me.
