Split Bow Arch Loop is a 0.6 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Strunk, Kentucky that features a great forest setting and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and trail running.
WOW. I am so glad we tacked this on to our trip. Well worth doing both quick hikes at this trailhead. Be aware that the arch gets virtually no sunlight- it was extremely cold and icy down there even though it was a nice sunny day in the parking lot. It was incredible to go see the ice on the cave walls.
such a beautiful place, especially in the morning. It seems many could not find the actual Trail head, as the overlook reveals many signs of trespass. easy peasy walk in the woods with lots of nice views of big rock formations. I was surprised with the seemingly large amount of traffic to the area, this place was still an empty lot at mid day.
Great short hike with the trail very well maintained! The arch itself is impressive as is the scenery along the way. I was amazed at the size of some of the trees and loved the part of the trail going between massive rock walls. On a nice Sunday afternoon, we only saw one other car the whole time we were there. Definitely a good place to visit if looking to avoid crowds! The short walk out to the Bear Creek Overlook offered a nice view also. Easy hike to the arch. Includes a couple a small spring crossings. Plenty of parking on out from the initial Split Bow Overlook.
