This is a short loop that spurs off from the Yost Ridge Trail. It leads down to a nice lake with a great area for a picnic. No fishing allowed in lake. The trail then loops back up the ridge to Yost.

Awesome hiking. Steep includes make for a great workout.

I feel this is a great trail to use for training to build endurance for more challenging trails...this trail offered challenges but also "flats" to allow you to recover.

Great trail to restart hiking regularly. Lake is a nice oasis. Too bad benches have obstructed view of lake.

What an amazing hike to a secluded lake. I started from the Paul Yost parking lot which involved tons of sandstone steps they installed on the knob.

Yost trail connects with Mitchell Lake trail. There are nice picnic tables and benches on the edge of the lake that make a great spot for lunch.

Good hike. Nearly 4 miles. Some pretty strenuous uphill climbs. Trekking poles were helpful. Lake is pretty--especially with fall colors. Be sure to carry water. There are picnic tables at the lake. People at the visitors center were very helpful and friendly.

We've done this trail dozens and dozens of times. We like to look at all the wildlife, especially snakes and have seen a LOT of them, though rarely on the trail itself. Nice, moderate little hike and a pretty little lake (don't like that there's "no fishing allowed" even though it's not a private lake). Deer, wild turkey, raccoons, chipmunks, loads of wildlife.

Beautiful and challenging. Great run with early summer aroma.

Parts of the trail had some downed trees which made my early pace suffer but all in all very fun.

Definitely will come back when I'm in town.
Parking at Jefferson Memorial Forest Welcome Center made the in and out a breeze.
4 out of 5 Stars!

this is a good trail with some decent elevation change. You can start from the visitor's center of Jefferson Forest. Behind the visitor's center is a wooden walk way leading to an adventure course and some zip lining. Go past all of this and you will be on the trail which makes a loop. Along the loop is a beautiful lake. Further along the trail you will find some picnic tables in a shaded area (there is a side trail from there with some porta-johns). Happy hiking!

great for a short hike!! slight changes in elevation keep it from being too boring but it's definitely not a strenuous hike. this trail is especially beautiful during the rain

Great little trail, beautiful lake. I typicall start at the Welcome center on yost ridge and loop around the lake and head back. Approx 3.2 miles. It is one of my favorite trails in Jeff Memorial.
