We love this trail; section hiked all of it and now duplicating sections. We have enjoyed every time! Even saw a northern copperhead on one early evening when there was a lot of water along the trail. The gravel goes from finely crushed, pea-sized to marble-sized gravel, thicker in some places. It’s mostly flat but has some steep grades (biking) and gently rolling hills to offer an occasional challenge. Even after lots of rain, the trail has not been covered in water but drains off into the woods. Lots of historical markings, scattered benches. It’s a lovely forested, mostly shaded path. We have enjoyed the many wildflowers along the path, open meadows near Diamond Caverns which has a shaded picnic table and bench, and Sloan’s Crossing Pond, a delightful eco system with an easy, flat boardwalk (.4 loop) for an extra diversion), cemeteries, and historic railroad cars near the beginning (Visitor Center). There are several access points along the trail so you can customize your own hike. It’s our go-to hiking trail even though it’s a good 45 minutes from our home.

Excellent ride from start to the finish of the trail. Smooth with some hills that allow you to pick up some good speed. Beautiful scenery. Enjoyed it and will definitely ride this again.

Great rail trail that dries fast after a rain, Highwinds on 3.29.2020 just after a heavy day of rain and the trail was completely dry. Very smooth and shaded

Good trail, some hills ether way you go, several road crossings, grave yards and historic places along the way crushed stone trail would not suggest smooth tread tires loose in spots.
