This is a moderate to hard trail that is uphill majority of the way. The trail is poorly marked. You are greeted by a beautiful sandstone arch, numerous creeks, waterfalls and stone staircases. The path eventually has a Y and if you take the left path you’ll run into a huge stone landing. To the right of the Y is a continuation of the trail.

This was one of the most rugged, uphill trails I've hiked yet. I loved it! Will definitely do again

This trail was fantastic. Very rewarding with lots of neat rock features and connects to Chained Rock for some beautiful views. Need to be in shape and bring lots of water and snacks, but well worth the effort. Would absolutely hike this one again. We did see a baby snake, although we could not identify it. Would recommend boots or shoes over sandals.

We had a difficult time finding the trail head because the road to the lower shelter was closed. GPS wasn’t helpful, but we were able to find another parking area not far away. Some of the reviews said the trail wasn’t marked well, but we didn’t have many issues. There are some markings on trees. There were maybe 2-3 spots we weren’t sure where to go, but I checked out location on this app’s map and could easily see if we were on the right track or not. The view at the top was beautiful! It’s entirely uphill, and we didn’t see a single person the entire time we hiked. We did this route to get to Chained Rock.

Great trail. Steep though. Suggest hiking it down. Trail a little difficult to follow near cove.

Awesome trail. Several rock formations, a small stream, and a good climb from the amphitheater. I recommended it, it would be worth your time.

Strenuous at times, but this path might be my new go-to for a good workout. It is uphill the entire way in. The trail is poorly marked, but you can figure it out. You are greeted by a beautiful sandstone arch, numerous creeks, waterfalls and stone staircases. The path eventually has a Y and if you take the left path you’ll run into a huge stone landing. To the right of the Y is a continuation of the trail. We almost made it the entire way, but were greeted by a thunderstorm. Not necessarily a place you want to be in a storm! Great exercise. Would hike again. Is not for inexperienced hikers or children.

A wonderful hike on a spectacular 72 degree day in mid March. The trail isn't very strenuous, but the trail can be difficult to follow at times. The start of the hike is a bit confusing, with three steps to look like they lead to a trail directly ahead of the stairs. The sign seems to suggest the same thing. Instead, turn right immediately behind the sign. There are beautiful stretches in the hike that include following a small stream, and actually shares the trail for a short stretch. The stream does flow over small waterfalls along the trail as well. Although relatively short it was one of the more enjoyable hikes we have had in this region of the country.

This was a strenuous trail and not well marked. I gave it four starts due to the poor trail marking.

Moderate to hard trail with amazing scenery including rock staircases, mature forest, and a really cool arch that runs along side a small stream. This trail has some pretty steep and long inclines that are slick and should not be used by inexperience hikers.

Not for children/inexperienced hikers. Great for a workout and solitude. Steep stonecases and charming rock footbridges lead you through forest with gorgeous old trees and wild flowers. Features an arch, a creek to cool off and turns around at a nice picnic area/amphitheater.

Awesome but strenuous.

This is a great hike. Very strenuous going all the way to chain rock but worth it. Easy coming back down.

The path is absolutely gorgeous! Walking along the stream adds so much to this hike!! Definitely watch your step though, it's mostly uphill/downhill.
