Indian Fort Lookout is a 2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Berea, Kentucky that features a great forest setting and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips and is best used from June until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
The Walnut Trail is a dead end, but it is beautiful in the spring time with lots of wild flowers growing along the trail. Very level and peaceful, but I can imagine it will become more weedy and narrow as summer rolls around and vegetation grows. We used it as an opportunity to stretch out our hike to Indian Fort Lookout and enjoyed the extra distance it added. If you're looking for ways to mix up your hikes at the Pinnacles, I highly recommend it.
Great trail. Up hill the first half. Great views and worth the climb.
Well kept and well marked trails. We even braved steep rock scramble up to the top of Indian Fort Lookout. So fun!
we love this trail system. Great features and views. You can customize your route to do many different distances depending on how much time and energy you have that day.
Wonderful trail! Safe, well maintained, clean bathrooms, and beautiful lookouts!
A great place with many trails to explore! Beginner, moderate, and more advanced sections! Good place for many. Be careful when it gets muddy, it is really slippery.
Great Trail. Recording is off though. Went on to East Pinnacle. Beautiful, though a little muddy
Beautiful trail and easy to find other trails to extend your hike.
Easy but steep hike in first mile, good footing but 600+ feet in less than a mile. Great payoff views and rock formations.
Trail was aittle soft and wet from the rain night before. Leaf cover on the trail was somewhat of an issue with the mud causing it to be slicker. Overall, it was a gorgeous day, overcast and a little windy but that didn't take away from the views and the hike!
Super steep in some areas but the path is easy to follow and the rock areas are kind of fun. Beautiful view.
Multiple trails done today. Good hike up and trails where great. Awesome rock formations and overlooks.
Great view. Enjoyed the east pinnacle view too! Tough on the knees back down. We found it easier to jog—less impact overall on the knees.
difficult inclines... beautiful overlook..really hard on knees coming down
