I posted a picture of the trailhead in the photos. For a 15 minute hike, the view has to be one of the best Red River Gorge has to offer. I’ve never done scrambling before, but it was fine. Make sure your shoes/boots have good traction.

This trail was super fun. I’m not super experienced with scrambling so... it was a little difficult but I loved it. Definitely my new favorite view in the gorge.

Awesome trail with some fun scrambling. Challenging if you’re not used to scrambles and bouldering. The views are so incredibly worth it!

A fun and challenging scramble up to the top of Half Moon. More from exposure than actual difficulty, the climb can be a little nerve-wracking but it is definitely manageable. So many cool little areas to explore and great views. Some of my favorite views in the gorge and more rewarding than the paved trail to Chimney Rock. The trail is unmarked but easy to find and follow. The start is directly off of Chimney Rock Road, essentially right across from a forest service pull off.

10/10 recommend. Quick hike, beautiful view & looks like there’s some great camping spots close along the way that are pretty close to the road. Definitely will be back to check try the camping spots!

Not for those that don't like heights or a bit of bouldering. A small element of danger present makes this trail very exciting. The final vista makes it well worth it!

An extremely easy trail, until the bouldering. Personally, when we hike this trail, the pups are left in the tent or cabin. We have watched dogs get up easy. But we have also noticed how strong dogs you would think could make it, couldn't. If you do bring pups, look to the left on the ground before beginning the rock climb. There is a quick path that is easier than the rock you have to cross. This rock has foot hooks but dogs cannot walk across. The final view is stunning.

Loved this trail! Super short and easy until you get to the scramble at the end. The scramble wasn't difficult, just be extra careful because the dropoffs are high.

Easy hike to the ridge. Very sketchy scramble and climb to reach the top. Good view of chimney top.

Nice, moderately difficult, short hike. Ok for kids and dogs about half way through, then it gets more and more narrow with big drops on either side. Challenging climbing/scramble option near the end. Scramble at your own risk!

Beautiful trail! Very short, climbing to the top of half moon rock would be impossible if there is any moisture on the ground. Very difficult if you’re under 5’1” but manageable. Amazing views.

Spectacular views. Unmarked trail head but the app takes you right to it. Not dog or kid friendly to get to the top though. A bit of scrambling required.

The trek there wasn’t bad but we didn’t go to the top. Very very sketchy. My fiancé went further than I did and I prayed hard for his return. This is NOT kid friendly!!
