Not bad for a urban trail. Nothing special to see, but fun to hike.

We have trekked this trail multiple times and still question if we are going the right direction on occasion. It's a beautiful trail otherwise and in am sure we will hike again, being from the area.

It was announced today that the city plans to do a timber salvage at Grapevine Lake. Several local trail users/volunteers have met with city officials to discuss the project and voice our concerns. Our main concern is the damage that will be caused to the trails by the loggers and the loss of the tree canopy to prevent undergrowth. The city is working with the Department of Forestry to determine which trees need to be removed and they don't plan to do any clear cutting. They mainly want to remove the trees that were damaged by the ice storms and the tornado. The Forestry representative said she believes the logging can be done with minimal affect to the canopy. The city has taken the trails into consideration and plans to include a clause in the bidding process that will require the loggers to remove any debris from the trails when finished. The original plan was to do the entire park at once but the city is working with us and is going to only cut on the B side first which will allow us to see how the trails are affected before starting on the A side. No one can predict how much damage will be caused to the trails by the logging crews so we will have to wait and see. If you would like to voice your concerns I would suggest reaching out to your city council representatives and the mayor. I will try to keep everyone posted with details as they become available.
