This was so worth it! We went as far as the metal steps down to the gorge by Courthouse Rock then had a snack while taking in the view. Hiked out the same way for a total of about 4.2 miles. Wear good shoes and bring a hat and hiking poles.

Great morning run on the Auxier Ridge Trail. Lot of deadfall on the lower part of the loop.

Trail leading to courthouse rock was filled with stunning views of the gorge and a somewhat leisurely hike. We kept going taking the courthouse rock trail back to the ridge trailhead with our 1yr old Australian Shepard. It was definitely a scramble going down past the stairs and back to the ridge but the understory was beautiful and had some nice enchanted forest vibes. The trail could have better markings, but all in all a really great hike. Would love to camp on the ridge at some point. Save enough water for the return hike back to the trailhead as you ascend for quite awhile.

HikingGreat!

This was a HOT trail. We were warned to take more water than you think you need. I took my 24 oz contigo and a 20 oz Dasani. I ran out, but not dangerously. I would have drank another bottle, had I had one. The trail is the top of a ridge, so much sun and little shade. The trail was surprisingly sandy. We made it to the Courthouse Rock, but did not actually walk onto it, as it was a bit narrow of a path for our comfort level. The views are amazing in so many places in this trail. Take extra water.

the views of courthouse rock at the end of this trail made the hike totally worth it, we didn't do the in and out, but continued onto the courthouse rock tail which led back to our car at auxier ridge. a couple blow downs were there but nothing unmanageable. over all, loved the hike !!

HikingNo shadeOver grownRockyScramble

Easy getting out around 8:30am before the heat/crowds hit. Less shade on the way back and it is definitely uphill more than you realize, so make sure to save plenty of water and energy for the return trip. Recommend stopping at courthouse rock or even before the stairs, as there’s not much to see beyond and it will save you a lot of steps back up! Attempted the loop but there was too much overgrowth and downed trees, plus it’s quite steep going down. Ended up quickly turning around to do an out and back. A few lizards but few other critter sightings. Views along the 1.7-2 mile mark are stunning, as you are standing along sheer cliffs often with a panoramic view of the gorge. I was excited to spot a nice arch off in the distance.

This was our favorite trail that we explored in the Gorge. It was a fairly easy trek for us, even with a big dog! Incredible vistas, especially in the second half of the trail. There were hardly any bugs when we hiked (7/8am).

Absolutely beautiful trail with phenomenal views. Not for anyone with a fear of heights, as part of the trail you walk along the top of the ridge. FOR ANYONE WITH AN ALLERGY TO BEES:: there is a hive in the dried sand/dirt to the left of the trail right after the 202 courthouse rock turn.

Last .5 mile, some pretty spectacular (and hairy) views. The other 2+ were just..meh. From a scenic standpoint 4/5 However....the flys... Additionally, make sure you’re toting plenty of water. There are NO water sources to utilize. Not overly arduous but, it was 90 today for example.
