Good lord this lack of shade in kansas is seriously killing me. Less of a trail and more of a mowed out path. And I suspect a nearby sewage leak. Stay away if looking for something new and fun, but I would recommend to Lansing locals looking to get a few miles in

Trail Head: go to the Northwest corner of the soccer field. Don’t try to start at the cul-de-sac looking area to the East of the flag pole. Hit the trail to the right and you’ll have about 2.5 mile loop ending at the cup-de-sac... and by then you’ll know what to look for trail wise. Wide grassy lane. Try not to be the first person down the trail unless you love spider webs :-). Very dew damp in the morning too. Lots of parking. Port-a-potty’s. No potable water. Picnic tables, shelter, playground equipment, and a little river. Ignore the trail closed ahead sign (if you are reading this close to when it is posted). It’s just a little creek bed you can hop across.

Overall a really good trail but they were completing bridge construction in one portion of the trail and the other trails were all marked closed. Could use better marking as it was a little difficult to find our way as first timers. Excellent potential though.

15650 Gilman Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048 is the address to find the park. I have no idea what they are talking about with the "Zoch Trailer Park, KS". This park is in Lansing, KS. This area is a nice park with a playground for the kids. The walking is pretty wide open. The only shade you will find is along the creek that runs through the middle of the park. Most of the trails are out in the open through the brush with little shade. Perfect dog walk.
