Great trail! I went off on the five mile hike— there is a sign for it off of the paved route. Trail is very obvious, some fun hills and great views. Got it done in a little under 2 hours, with stopping to look at the scenery. Great Kansas find!

Just hiked this 5+ mile trail. The “paved” 1 mile loop is roughly paved (if I was pushing a wheelchair I wouldn’t be happy, as it is def not ADA-approved). But as a previous reviewer noted, the mowed trail leads out and around, well west of the paved trail. There is a 279 foot elevation gain throughout the trail. The brochure says it would take 90 minutes. I would say you would need to be pretty physically fit and singularly-minded to do that. I’m mild-to-not fit and it took me, with stops for appreciating wildlife and breathing, 3 hours. Beautiful hike. Glad I did it. The trail is well taken care of with a few ankle-breaker holes along the route.

This is actually 2 different trails. There is the less then a mile paved nature walk, but off of it (about halfway through it) there is a mowed path that leads off toward the lake. It is a loop that is somewhere around 7 miles total. It meanders through some wooded areas and some tall grass plains. We went over the weekend and it was really nice. At about the halfway point there’s a bench overlooking the lake. Well worth the time. Will return in the Fall to hike it again.
