Hogsback and Wildcat trails can be accessed off the same road on their southern ends. The wildcat trail runs past the 4 cabins built by the CCC in the 1930s before continuing north up the Iowa River valley. The wildcat trail is cement in from of the historic 1930's cabins then switches to wide mowed grassy paths. The hogsback trail runs up higher along the ridge looking down on the cabins and wildcat trail. Hogsback trail is mostly dirt but well maintained. Along the way you come across an old abandoned stone cabin that many people have carved in over the years.
Good fun. We needed some fresh air and the kids had energy to burn. :) And, BONUS: No flu on the trails! ;) Perfect for a sunny, winter day.
