There is a cut grass path around the south and east sides of the marsh. Access it from going south on the paved path to the south end of the marsh or take the paved path east to the hill edge overlooking the marsh. There are wide grassy trails that go around these marshes and one that separates them. Most of the shorebirds are in various shallow spots in the marsh. All of the bitterns, Rails and Great Blue, Green and Night Herons, Sandhill Cranes and many kinds of ducks can be found here. With rubber boots, there are a couple of areas that are shallow enough to wade across.

the hike is disappointing! Starts out nice but eventually disappears into tall grasses and impassible dead ends.... we stuck with it quite a while but eventually retraced our route back!

It’s been a wet year and many of the trails are not mowed or flooded over. We cut our walk short because we didn’t have anywhere to go!
