There is a lot to do at this extremely underrated State Park. The DNR does a wonderful job of keeping this nice park well kept. If you have a negative opinion from the past it would be a wise choice to go down there on a nice day to check out the improvements they have made all over the area. Extremely scenic area that has a numerous abundance of wildlife. As matter of fact there are Bald eagles around the lake as I write this quick write up!
Nice trail that can be looped around the lake if you use the road on the north side. The road is not heavily trafficked. Good parking at the trail head on the south side. On the west side the trail connects to the Indian Creek trail and on the east it connects to the Wabash bike trail. It's not as beautiful as other trails in the area. Paved, flat, good for beginners. Driving by the lake to the parking lot I saw 2 blue herons and ducks. My biggest disappointment about this lake trail is that you don't see the lake while on the trail.
There is a mountain bike trail as well.
Nice easy paved trails for biking. Mountain bike path is kind of hidden it's down by the Missouri River area.
I have camped here a couple times. Their are connecting rails to trails bike trails "wabash Trace" . The trails also lead to a NPark western trails center. Much to do in the area. Nice older campgrounds
very nice and scenery is beautiful
