Even though it was a bit of a drive for me from Johnston, it was worth spending the day here. The walk around the lake is just a little over a mile. As others have mentioned, the trail is well maintained. Very few people around. Quiet and peaceful. Lots of birdwatching opportunities with a few wild rabbits seen hopping around. Actual trail is almost entirely flat and is hard packed dirt with only a couple sections composed of fairly compacted sand. Dogs on leash are allowed, as well as fishing and non-motorized boats. Great place to put in a raft or small kayak. Make a picnic of it. Although a short, easy hike, it was very enjoyable.
