Nestled in the rolling hills of southwest Iowa, Viking Lake is a perfect setting for recreation. The park's campground is located between the arms of the lake, which provide lakeshore access to many of the campsites. A sandy swimming beach welcomes swimmers and the concession/restaurant is the perfect place for a refreshing snack or meal. Rent a paddleboat for a trip around the lake or a pontoon boat for a more leisurely outing. Pack up your familys favorite lunch and enjoy a shady picnic area where you can play on a playground, fish or enjoy the lovely view.

This trail is well-demarcated, treed and easy. There is plenty of flora and fauna and subtle beauty abounds. There are places to rest. Part of the trail on the west side of the lake has numbered signs that makes me think there is a trail map, but I didn't find any at the campsite. Lovely place for a peaceful hike!
