First .5 - .7 miles are down hill on the way to the Lake and uphill on the way back: very steep at point.

Such a pretty hike to, around, and from the little lake! Lots of eye catching things to see. Lots of stairs at the beginning, going down, which means a lot if stairs at the end, coming up! My mileage indicator said 1.8 miles, which matched up with the heart app On my phone.

The lake loop part was fairly easy and the trail to the nature center a bit more difficult with the large stairs to climb. The lake was beautiful. I actually prefer this to the Ogle lake trail which I have did many times. The lake loop portion is kid friendly with several places to get into the water.

Easy Loop Trail around the lake. Perfect picnic spots around. There are stairs involved in a few places. It is heavily trafficked with good size parking lot.

This was an easy, dog-friendly trail with great views of Stagl Lake and many access points to the lake itself. February may not be the time of year to go if its warm and you don't want to deal with large amounts of mud. VERY muddy right now. I took the .7 extension to the nature center. Its labeled rugged, but only rugged part is the approx 175 steps toward the top. There is also a boardwalk that is missing about the halfway point. It is passable, but requires walking through a good deal of mud. Aside from the current conditions (missing boardwalk and large amounts of mud) it's a nice trail and only takes about an hour if you hike the extension. Would recommend this trail.

Fantastic trail! Definitely gets a moderate rating with the significant elevation change and all the stairs! It was absolutely gorgeous all the way through. Generally, it was well-maintained; however, there was a small section that looked like the boardwalk was incomplete. Made for a fun trek though the mud, and I had a great time. Will want to come again when it's slightly less muddy. Also, plenty of spots for a lovely picnic.

Nice trail around the lake. Going the first 1/2 mile is easy but not coming back up. Found out you can follow the road down to the picnic area by the lake and just a walk the lake trail if you want to avoid the long incline and 200 steps going up
