Really great vegetarian, super green. Not too muddy, which is perfect.

Great hike. A little confusing to follow the correct trail as some of the signs need to be replaced. It was muddy and proper shoes/boots are needed. Typical for spring rainy weather. NO bugs though! Great wildflowers abound and good colors.

Spring might not be the best time to hike a lot of northwest Indiana trails. Few seem to drain well and are therefore very sloppy. This couldn’t be truer than at this park. All trails weren’t just “muddy,” but had “sink a few inches” mud when not flooded. The park had put down wood chips In only two spots (each just a few feet long). The wood chips did a good job of eliminating the mud by raising the path and soaking up the water. With all the downed trees throughout the park, it seems that park administration should be able to rent/buy/borrow a chipper to make its trails useable.

We enjoyed this squishy trail today. Not sure it’s moderate. Moderately muddy for sure but an easy hike with some barely noticeable up and downhill parts. If you’ve got hiking shoes or boots you’ll be fine. Nice playground for kids and super clean bathrooms!

Great trail for running, once around the Perimeter is 3.5 miles. I can see how it would get muddy in the spring or fall, but frozen winter was perfect.

The beginning part was a little confusing I went off trail a few times but after that it kind of straightened itself out and I ran it through twice but the second time I skipped the beginning part knocked about a mile and a half off the total all together it was about a 9 and 1/2 mile trip I enjoyed it

This is a nice little county park with plenty of easily traversed trail within the woods. As some others mentioned, there are actually several smaller trails within the woods, so you can wander off of the perimeter trail. Things could be marked a bit better, but it’s never too difficult to find your way back. The trails are mostly flat, but there are some short hills and a few bridges along the way that cross over a creek that runs throughout the park.

I recently went on a weekday morning and did have to pay $5 entrance fee. I was walking with my grandpup, and I must say there was a LOT of poison ivy he would “visit” on the trail itself - not just on the sides. Perimeter trail is pretty wide for the most part, except at certain part of west trail in prairie it had not been mown in a long time! The map provided by the park should have an inset of the smaller “nature trails” in more detail. That part is a little confusing - several trails are simply called “nature trail,” they are not numbered or marked very well - and some paths are dead ends.

This isn't the most scenic trail but it is worth hiking if you are in the area. It's only for horseback or hiking. The only time you'd pay to enter Stoney Run is on weekends in the summer. 99% of the year it's free to visit.

The perimeter Trail is a moderately flat trail with some muddy sections and some horse damage. the trail is not maintained all that well in every area. overall this park is okay but I'm not quite sure why they charge to use this park. I would not recommend this Trail for mountain bikers, but for hikers and runners it is okay. The bugs can be a bit heavy especially on the western areas of the trail. There is a nice farm field overlook/ view on the far south western edge of the perimeter trail. Overall the perimeter trail is better suited for horses.
