Good trail, some traffic but nothing that was obtrusive Good sights of deep ridges and wildflowers, with some small creek crossings would go back as a lot of other trails that link up. Has very nice paved running/bike path close that ran parallel with trail for some of the time. This interested us as we would like to camp there once campgrounds open again. Did loop w/ 2 kids 5 and under, 1 road in backpack 3/4 or time.

Lovely trail and not as heavily trafficked as I had imagined it would be. Also great for a shorter option since low gap and 3 lakes are both so long. Make sure to cross the street and go past the paved path to get back on the trail at the halfway point! There’s a sign so you can’t miss it. Lots of ticks for April - watch out!

Great trail was a little muddy due to the time of the year. Trail is marked very well, took us just under 3 hours with 3 children and a dog.

I love this pretty trail and the scenery, but don't care for it's proximity to the road and the large paved trail during the first half of the hike. Still, would do again!

Was super muddy and overgrown after all the rain, but it was still a good run.

Beautiful scenery and great even if you don't have a lot of time. The "loop" involves the road, but you can, instead, just reverse course. Would do it again!

Mid 30s, blue sky, group was 6 and a k9. Trails were great... elevations fun. Definitely recommend this trail, even has areas to run the trail!

Quiet trail, nice to put your feet in the water. some colorful fungi and other plants.

Heads up: this trail is a little closer to 4.0 miles in distance. I hiked this trail clockwise with my parents (who are in their 70's) and it took us a little over two hours. This trail is relatively easy and could easily be hiked by older adults, with a recommended mobility aid (trekking pole, etc.) Overall this a great trail for hikers of all skill levels, just watch out for some of those roots! *side note: we hiked this trail June 25, 2017 and there were several trees down along the trail.

Took the kids and it was great for them. Would be a good trail for dogs on a leash, and also trail running.

Nice easy trail. We have completed it several times with our dog, toddlers walking, and baby in the pack. For the loop, we suggest starting on the Low Gap portion and returning on the Mason Ridge Portion. There are several stream/drainage crossings, so it gets muddy if there has been rain.

Nice easy trail. Lots of downed trees. Park has lots of potential- low traffic!

I went out to Morgan Monroe today with my wife and our dogs to get some trail time since it was so nice out. Things were great until we got half way through the trail and found out that they've closed the entire southern portion of this trail and a large portion of the Tecumseh Trail while they destroy half of the forest for a bike path. I really love this place and I hate to rate it so low, but to not even reroute the track and just close it like this is horrible.

Hiked this loop starting at the low gap trailhead. The trail is relatively easy, but does have some decent elevation change. It's hard to channel the ol' inner woodsmen though, being so close to the road for most of the loop. Still an excellent 3.5 mile jaunt.

Hiked this a couple of weeks ago and the trail was really muddy at the time so it took a little longer for us to complete than it normally would. Parts of the trail are nice, parts of it run along the road. We also heard a lot of gun shots in the background, like someone was doing target practice.

This trail is actually in Martinsville and helps connect the Low Gap Trail parking lots. It also crosses Forest Road to complete the "loop" and you can find the Mason Ridge/Low Gap sign in the south parking lot. Great views along the way of this nice, easy loop.
