This hike was on some of the many made by the motocross club that holds sanctioned races here. I don't think riding is allowed except for those events. I'm not sure about mountain bikes, as I've never seen people riding. There aren't many hikers either though.

Pretty views of the lake and several smaller lakes along the trail with lots of opportunity to see wildlife. Trails aren't marked, so some sense of direction and being observant of what's around you is important. The spoil banks make for some good ups and downs.

There is a fee to get in the park, which helps the park make improvements, and there have been several in the last few years.

This track starts near the observatory. After entering the park gate, turn right. You could also park up front and hike the road or take the trail on the spoil bank just north of the road.
