Lawrenceburg/Aurora Trail is a 7.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The trail is good for all skill levels and is primarily used for road biking and mountain biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
First day over 60 degrees in 2021! After 2 weeks of Snowmaggedon was needed!
This is a running, biking or walking trail. It is not hiking. Mostly shaded, wide paved path. Only a handful of people out at 8-9am on a Saturday.
Typically not a fan of out and back trails. Though this is scenic and well maintained.
Lovely path by the river. Entire path is paved and we love taking our dogs here for a nice walk and to bird watch. We have seen lots of unique birds here in the past month including Blue Grosbeak, bald eagle, osprey, double crested cormorant, and several species of woodpecker. Also has a dog watering station at the beginning and dog park to let them off leash.
Lots of mosquitoes due to being near the river. Not much shade but there is some. Good for a family biking outing.
Nice, flat, dog/bike/stroller friendly. 7 miles along river with tunnels and bridges.
Although not as long as some other paved trails, it's my favorite because of how varied the surroundings are. The part of the trail by 275 is not connected to the rest of the trail, so it is best to start just west of the Hollywood Casino. You can park on the street or probably even park at the casino. You go right along the river, then through a few tunnels, into a wooded area and crossing a few cool bridges. You could stop and eat in either Aurora or Lawrenceburg. Both have small town feels and a number of small shops. Lawrenceburg seems to have a lot more money put into it's downtown (by the casino) but both have charm. In Aurora I also saw 2 hydroplanes take off from the river, plus there is a historic mansion up on the hill which is worth checking out. Out and back ended up being about 11.5 miles.
