Loved the hike but it was definitely easy to get lost as some of the side trails/animal trails were larger then the main trail. My girlfriend and I almost walked onto the golf course because we took a wrong turn. Great halfway point stop to play fetch with our dog in the lake.

Muddy, but I wouldn't let that stop me. Not much elevation, an easy hike. Pieces of the past, wondering about the landscape before the reservoir existed.

Nice, scenic, solitary walk through the woods and around a couple of coves. Some fallen trees; nothing too bad.

Hiked this afternoon. Muddy, as other reviewers noted. We have not had rain in a good week. Leaf coverage helped us dodge mud is some places. We left from the parking lot with iron bear statue. Lots of Seagull activity and some Mallard Ducks in first cove. From there, the trail leads to a stream, which is currently partially ice covered. Always love the sound of a tricking stream. This leads to a road, which you take to connect back up to the trail on other side of cove. On the way back we opted to take the road all the way up to the cemetery, where you can catch the paved walking/bike trail off of 56th Street. Trail is easy to follow in some areas, and overgrown in others, but easy to navigate this time of year, other than the mud. Parking is free.

I can see why most pictures on here are in winter or late Fall. The trail is impassible in summer. Weeds as tall as you are crowding in and over the deer path width trail. I’m not complaining or giving a bad rating - just leaving advice - if you want to hike this in July or August, wear long pants, long sleeves, and being a machete :) this applies to starting about 1 mile into the hike. The first mile is great. After that, bring your bushwhacker. I’ll come back after the forest has withered away for the season - it’ looks like a really good hike then. :)

The trail is overgrown once you get to the second part of it. The first part has some great views of the reservoir that are worth seeing though.

Great hike in the Eagle Creek area without the eagle Creek crowd.

like all the hills, but tree down everywhere and no markers for the trail.

Took my dog on this trail for the first time yesterday. It is a great trail. It definitely makes you work as you go up some descent inclines and have to jump over quite a few down trees. There’s a few areas of water that you have to cross as well. I will definitely be going back!

Lovely hike. Very few people. Beautiful view of the reservoir particularly in the fall when all the leaves are changing.

Awesome trail, not maintained as well as eagle creek but definitely more difficult with hills and tree jumping. I recommend this trail when Eagle Creek is packed on the weekends there is usually no one on this trail!!

Just discovered this trail on All Trails app and I live close enough to walk there! What a great trail for hiking or trail running. Lots of variation, ups and downs to keep your blood pumping, over many fallen trees on the trail, under them as well. Today the trail was muddy in several spots, difficult at times to know if you were on the actual trail, no markings.....but all that said, I can’t wait to get back over there and do it again!

Trail follows the western shoreline if Eagle Creek Reservoir. Trail maps are not available from Indy Parks. Outstanding views of the reservoir. Some low lying areas are extremely wet. Times of heavy rains will probable make portions of the trail underwater. Lots of blowdown on the trail.
