Wear good shoes on trail 2 ... have to cross the water many times. There’s a rickety old viewing platform close to the base of the falls that needs work. There are signs prohibiting going to base of the falls which is stupid! Trail 8 follows the ridge above the canyon. This could use a few lookouts.

We figured out how to create a longer loop out of 7, 6, 2 and 8 that takes you down the Trail 7 side of the canyon then up the Trail 8 side. So that is what I am reviewing here. You park at the North Gate lot. I don’t know what the mileage was but it was three hours at a steady pace. "All Trails" should make this an option: 7, 6, 2, 8. Technically you are only on Trail 2 for a brief time, just to cross the creek. It has been raining and we saw a lot of Trail 2 hikers doing the entire creek, but we didn't want to get that wet! For the Trail 8 part, it is a steep but enjoyable climb from the creek to the ridge. Lots of creek crossings over bridges, with some small waterfalls. Very close to the end, the trail is next to the road with a gate and seems to want to send you to the road. Don't! Continue on the trail to your right where the creek goes under a bridge. Cross the creek (challenging due to wet rocks) and continue up the other side via stairs. Final word: Hikers, wear your masks when you pass other hikers! Unless 100% of All Trails members were not hiking Clifty Falls this weekend, some of you All Trails members are cheating. Wear your masks when you pass other hikers or we are all doomed!

We definitely spent more than 1hour 40 minutes to finish this trail, since trail 2 is very rocky and better to wear water resistant shoes. There’s a very steep shortcut between trail 8 and trail 2 which is not marked on the map from the park.

The trail is wide and shady. On the 8 mile loop, coming back in the creek rock can be challenging for footing. We only passed 4 sets of other hikers.

if you start at trail head 8 and continue past the first trail 2 marker, its a solid 8 miles (that's what we recorded), so just be prepared! the 3.2 mi is if you take the first trail 2 fork. it was worth the trek down the whole Creek bed (but it is rough at some points) and there were some deeper spots thanks to the rain the night before that we cooled off in with our dogs. the boulders closer to the falls were a fun challenge and our big woofers did great navigating them safely, but some were very slick! it was an awesome hike.

Solid hike— Trail 8 goes along the upper rim then Trail 2 is pretty rocky with nice rugged climbs towards the end. Our large sized dog was able to keep up and loved splashing in the creek bed. No great views of the waterfalls but good hike none the less!

Nice hike. Nice scenery. Saw deer, turkeys, blue birds. Trail 2 is just the creek bed- lots of loose rock. Used the park map to find an alternate route using trail 3,4,&5 on the way back. That made for a nice loop with interesting historical markers along the way.
