Took this on a Thursday afternoon. Only 3 cars in the lot with 3-4 open spots when we arrived. Nice trail with more up and down than we expected. Great view of the lake at the end and spots of it through the trees along the way.

This trail is getting over-used. It is supposedly a nature preserve, but you are not likely to see wildlife due to the crowds of people (the parking lot is often overflowing, and people are parking illegally in the street). Because so many people have not been respecting the wildlife or the neighborhood, the owners are now shutting it down at peak times... on weekends.

Fun trail. Took kids and dog. We all enjoyed the hilly walk to the shoreline. Nice exercise but also peaceful due to limited parking. So many geodes on the beach.. kids loved finding and cracking some open. Be aware that there are only about 8 parking spots. There was actually a park ranger there when we arrived ( we got the last spot) and he was making sure the cars that arrived after us were not making their own spots or even just waiting for a spot. The sign at the entrance says if lot is full, come back another time :(

My family got in a good workout with the hills and enjoyed looking for geodes on the path and the beach. The limited parking made for a peaceful experience and the views were really lovely. When we returned to the car there were lots of people waiting for spots, so I would suggest trying for off times to make sure you can park and the trip out there isn’t a bust.

Fun trail. Beautiful views. Up and down the whole way, but the beach is worth it. My dogs loved it. Only a few parking spots but only takes about an hour so can go to nearby trail and come back to check parking situation. Worth the trouble

Beautiful lake views and mostly smooth terrain (some rocky sections in the middle) with moderate hills. The wide trail is great for families and dogs.

I really enjoy this trail over most others because of the wide trail and great views of the lake on both sides. I would call this heavily trafficked because the parking lot is ALWAYS full on the weekends when we have been.

Nice out and back trail with scenic views of the lake and a good beach to stroll at the end.

Easy-Moderate Level: A few steep ascents and descents but otherwise easy. Trail is nice and wide. Very popular with dog lovers! Birds Spotted: Red Headed Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers, Red Bellied Woodpeckers, Chickadees, Titmice, Blue Jays, Cardinals, Turkey Vultures, Ring-billed Gulls Tracks Spotted: Human, Dog This is an absolutely gorgeous hike and one we will be re-visiting often. To get to this trail you go through a very upscale neighborhood and then suddenly there is the small parking area on the right. It is a very popular trail but due to the small parking area it isn't over-crowded. If you love woodpeckers, this is your trail. There are many, many woodpeckers and they are very easy to see especially in the spring. The trail is a bit muddy at first but once you get on the main part it is all on the peninsula and beautiful lake views can be seen on either side. It is a mix of deciduous trees and then spots of pine trees which smell amazing. The trail ends at the water and there are many scenic bluffs where you can sit in the sun and stare out at the lake and watch the gulls.

Fall afternoon hike with the Mr & our Luna pup. Lots of rain yesterday but the trail was not muddy at all! Beautiful trail!

Pleasant walk to the lake, tantalising views on both sides of the track. Some uphill to get the heart rate up.

We hiked this trail on the evening of July 22, 2019. The trail begins at a small parking area located down a road traveling through a very nice neighborhood. The trail itself is fairly wide and smooth, yet has some elevation changes to it. Definitely an easy hike. Very nice view of Lake Monroe at the end of the trail.

My wife and I hiked this trail this morning. Little to no mud and you can get all the way to the lake currently. We saw a lot of cool geodes and some wildlife, primary chipmunks. There is some elevation change so in spite of this being an easy hike, it is not flat

Enjoyable trail- scenic views of the lake through the trees and a great view of the lake at the end (turn-around). The trail is narrow in a few places but otherwise wide enough to walk two across comfortably. Looking forward to returning.

You enter the trail from a small parking area (enough for 8 or so vehicles) and descend slightly through one of the many inclines. It is a tough trail because of the inclines but if you go slow on them, you should have no problem. Very accessible trail after the first descent. This is a little narrow at first but no problem for us. It is as everyone stated in other reviews, quite a workout! But so worth it! The trip back is a little harder with the inclines but there are many spots to stop and rest. A bench, a nice rock, both give you gorgeous lake views and are shaded! Actually most of the trail is shaded but there are patches of sunlight here and there, during the summer months. The views are amazing and the lake is beautiful with the trail ending at the shore line of the peninsula. The water was up about 14 ft or so after heavy rains these past few weeks. Happy we made it to the shore line but not able to access the trail past this point. We’ve visited before and went all the way to the end and it was a nice place to relax or fish or just take in the views. Highly recommend.

This is a clear, wide trail that is easy to hike but there is some moderate elevation changes so you can get a workout. It is worth it to take your time and absorb the scenery that's all around. Note that parking is limited to about seven spaces.

Loved this trail. Did a quick stop for a hike with my pup on my way from Louisville to Nashville, Indiana. Large, wide trail for most the way. Tall trees with great views of water this time of year. Nice inclines and drops that get the blood flowing.
