It was an awesome hike. Short, but fun nonetheless.

The trail is a hilly, mowed path that leads to an old railroad tunnel. A nice, short walk, of just over one mile will take you to the tunnel. There are side paths, and no signs along the way, but if you keep taking the most prominent path, you should be fine.

As a moderately in shape person I would definitely rate this trail easy. The tunnel is very cool but you can't explore it at all. The trail is very lush and green and would be perfect for younger and older active people. We did it in under an hour.

A decent hike. Only a couple of spots with the elevation change I was hoping to find. The rest was relatively flat on old railroad trails. Nice for a short hike. The bugs were feasting, even with spray.

Great family trip.
Spooky tunnel at the end!! Go a little deeper for extra adrenaline rush.
Be sure and follow the old railroad track to the dead end on the round trip so that you can take an off road, steep, short cut back to the car!!

We were drawn to this trail because the line ends at an old abandoned railway tunnel - sounds spooky! It was phenomenal! Main trail is easy to follow - no markers but highly used. Plenty of fun game trails to explore the area along with some nice views. Lots of wildlife. Several great steep hills to go up and down along the route. The best were a few old ruins and foundations from when the railway was still running. Although it's a short main trail, there is a lot to see and explore along the way. We were lucky to have a warm winter day so the foliage was thin and there weren't any bugs. I imagine it gets very overgrown in the summer months though. Oh, and the tunnel at the turn-back point did not disappoint! Highly recommended for the seasoned adventure-enthusiast with an afternoon to spend in the hills below Galena.
