Illinois Prairie Path is a 27.9 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Berkeley, Illinois that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until October.
this trail sits on the former right of way of the chicago aurora and elgin interurban electric line. it splits in wheaton where the south trail goes to aurora and north to elgin. there are some old restored stations still aroubd as well as a couple thatbatill stand but nt in good shape.
I live in Elmhurst and love the proximity to this trail. Ride it regularly for a quick workout and have done one long ride out to Wheaton. Well groomed. Plenty of room for runners, walkers, and bikes. Found going onto the Great Western Trail a bit less busy on the weekends. Love that it's shaded.
I ran from Elmhurst to Wheaton and back training for Marathon. It was a great way to do a long run in the burbs. I prefer crushed limestone paths for this type of training.
This is a Great trail for running. Especially for marathon training. Beautiful scenery, nice soft gravel, bikers are well mannered, but most important well shades with trees lining both sides much of the way. One important note there isn't a load of water on the course be sure to bring your own.
I like this path- but too many road crossings.
Lincoln marsh is a good place to park and hike after biking path
Very nice well kept trail , it does get busy in various areas.. Had started on Salt Creek trail in wooddale & connected this trail. many off road trails alongside can't wait to do it again... The second time around I'm going to head towards Geneva & st Charles ..
Nice trail system. well kept for the most part. I still hav a lot to explore. Started in Berkely and went out to St Anne. Runs near some busy traffic areas at times but not for too long.
