Illiniwek Forest Trail is a 2.4 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Port Byron, Illinois that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until November.
There is actually about 5.5 miles of actual trails well maintained for bicycle racing. Lost of other trails just from so much traffic. Good slight elevation changes and nice overlook of the Mighty Mississippi.
Nice hike. The trails are well maintained for bikes, but due to muddy conditions, no bikes on the day we hiked.
It's not flat. Lots of gentle changes in elevation without being too difficult. Trails are well packed so you don't get muddy. There are some good views over the river as well.
