An easy trail that leads visitors past one of the largest shelter bluffs in Illinois.
Nice bluff shelter. It was deceptively larger than it appears as you walk up to it. Short easy hike. Worth the effort when in the area.
The kids and dog loved it! Lots of places to explore! Close proximity to a nice picnic area and several other trail heads leads to a full day excursion if time allows.
Quick but fun!
Good, easy, quick trail. Very beautiful.
Nice easy rocked trail
very easy hike. kids like to climb when they get back to the caves not steep or hilly. very nice.
A trail that is somewhat easy and well worth the walk to the cave. Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Great walk, loved the rock shelter, worth the drive to get there
this is an easy trail for those who are avid hikers. the trail is a loop and distance is right over a mile round trip. if you can hit the cave at the right time (right time being when very few people have been out there that day) and your fairly quiet on approach, you will catch a glimps of the hawk flying out of the nest. located under the bluff in a crevice.
There us a trail here. It is a 1.25 mile loop and at moderate difficulty. Not too bad, lots of nice rock formations. Not for the out of shape individual. There are some areas that have withered away with time, but the places that were really bad they have replaced with stairs.
Hawk's Cave is actually just a shelter, but it is fairly large with a decent amount of opportunity for exploring the shelter. User friendly loop trail.
