Mix trail and paved. Pretty flat
This is a scenic trail with forest and river - especially today as it was snowing. But you won’t be able to pretend you’re not in an urban area. You cross/go under/go over/walk next to busy roads and highway for a good portion of this trail. There is a tunnel on each of the paved and unpaved trails - the one on the unpaved trail has no lights. You hear cars almost the whole time and there’s apparently an outdoor gun range near the start of this trail so you hear shots ringing out. Also, at one point, as I came around a bend I heard what I thought was flowing water. Nope - it was the buzz of electrical lines.
There is practically no shade on this trail at all. It goes over several main roads and next to the highway. Decided to turn around half way because the heat was too much on a sunny day.
Yellow trail is easy but didn’t lole the fact have to cross the streets like 3 times. Otherwise its a pretty good trail!
Dog friendly trail. Plenty of tree coverage on strictly trail walking paths, some non shaded area where trees and bikes converge. We started on the main trail then found some smaller side trails with paths marked by logs which were beautiful and less trafficked. The stream is mainly still water and doesn’t smell the best but it’s only a problem when you walk right alongside it.
I've been hiking every once in a while in Harmes for three weeks, and it's a great spot. A little difficult to find the unpaved trails but once I did it's easy, fun hiking and totally worth it. There were a good number of them as well. Paved trails are another good experience but a much different setting and much busier as well.
Beautiful trail. Be prepared for the cold if visiting during Dec through Feb.
When you have nothing else to do, it’s better to take the neighborhood 8 mile walk than to sit on your computer and play games of nonsense or watch Ellen, Game shows or reruns. Fresh air, greenery, birds etc is so nice. I met some other people who had nothing else to do and also was enjoying the day. Victory for me
Great trail. Paved trail almost runs parallel to the walking trail which is flat soil and gravel. Trail runs next to stream. Deer hanging around. April was lacking greenery but nice trail with lots of curves.
