This trail is a forest service dirt road. It can be out and back, to point to point. You could also make it a loop with a short cross country hike out of the hollow and back up to the ridge trail. It is a hike in the forest with no unique features. The view would be better in the fall/winter. The trail is not overgrown (except in a few locations). It does have a couple of step washed out portions of the trail as the trail descends into the hollows. Ticks and mosquitoes were not a problem (I fact I did not need to use insect repellent.
