This was such a great trail to enjoy with my family...ranging from 80 yrs old down to 4 yrs old. We all had a great time and the lake is beautiful!!!! Weather was amazing and trail was well taken care of. Word of advice if it is your first visit...trail starts ACROSS the highway from the parking lot

Beautiful hike! Amazing views, wildflowers everywhere. Made it with two kids under 8 and it was easy. Some parts of the trail were slippery downhill, wear proper shoes.

Great trail, still a few spots with snow. Elevation got to my kiddo with Asthma but we made it through. Beautiful views the entire way!!! Previous review that said it was longer than 3.6 miles must have taken the longer route that starts near Galena lodge. This trail head starts up near the summit pass.

This trail is 3.80 miles up to the lake and 3.80 miles to get back to parked car. Great hike. The end of hike to lake was pretty heavily inclined. Several switchbacks but views are breathtaking. Total miles was 7.6 miles.

Beautiful hike. We went at 9:30am on a Sunday and had the whole trail to ourselves. Saw our first group of 3 with about half a mile left pack to the car. Round trip was 3.6 (didn’t loop around the whole lake) and about 860ft in rolling elevation. If you are in decent shape then this should be an easy hike. Snow and mud was almost completely gone.

Great hike. We went around the whole lake and back and it was 4.33 miles with total elevation gain of 900+ feet. Not much variation in elevation just rolling for the most part. Some slippery areas, snow melting. Very nice hike. Agree with the easy rating if you are physically fit.

Great trail. Hiked it yesterday after a fresh snow of about six inches. Went up snowy, came down melted and muddy. Total elevation gain was around 850 on a Garmin Instinct with a total distance of around 4 miles. Would lean more towards intermediate but great views and worth the visit.

Beautiful hike, gorgeous lake! BUT you need to know...this is farther than 3.3 miles total, and the elevation gain is WAY more than 600 or so feet. I would not consider this easy for the average person. All Trails info about this hike conflicts with other sites, that say this hike is 4+ miles and 1000 feet or so climb. Also, there are quite a few snow patches to go through right now, which makes it a bigger challenge this time of year. I’m glad I did the hike, but I’ll wait until I’m a little more prepared to take on that elevation again.

Had to trek through about 2 feet of snow in some spots. Don’t lose hope. Just keep trekking past and the snow will finally clear

If you’re going to do this hike... wear hiking boots and come prepared for snow and mud. We showed up today expecting an easy hike to the lake. This hike is definitely moderate/challenging given the snow, melting snow, ice, and mud. I was wearing tennis shoes and slipped and fell on two occasions, one time sliding off trail on snowy and rock. Pretty scary. I would recommend waiting a little later into the season to do this hike when the path is easier to navigate. However, with all this being said, the lake is beautiful crystal clear and the 180 degree view from the highest point of the hike is stunning. Also, my Apple Watch tracked this hike as 3.9 miles, rather than the three that we anticipated.

Good trail, mostly covered in snow and ice. Lake is frozen, very pretty views.

Awesome trail and a beautiful view. Well traveled and mostly a gradual incline. A few areas where is gets a little steep, but definitely an easier trail.
