Getting There

Typically a very busy trail used by young and old alike. There are some very steep sections but also other routes to mitigate these. Cell service throughout entire hike. City overlook over the majority of the hike. Main features "the Cross" and "quarry". Little to NO shade, no water, takes an average person about 45mins to 1hr to hike to the top. Hike to the top and return though there are multiple routes you can take up and back.

Parking is Free and located at the Old Penitentiary, also at trail head entrance doggy-do bags are usually available.

Trails generally begin at the parking space for the "Old Penitentiary"

HikingGreat!

Great views of the city but even better views of the foothills in the opposite direction. I went mid-day and boy was that a mistake. No shade and I definitely underestimated my ability to sweat! Trail is clearly marked and there are several other small intersecting trails. Overall it's a good way to kill a couple of hours and give your legs a workout. Only reason it didn't get 5/5 is because of all the distractors in the view like power lines, cell towers, etc. It did have some pretty neat graffiti on the power boxes on the top so give that a look!

Not nearly as hard as I thought it was gonna be. Definitely doable for inexperienced hikers or folks that feel out of shape. I wouldn’t do it during the day at this time of the year as it would be way too hot, but it was nice as an evening hike.

Great Trail, have done it a few times both with small kids and adult only. I would not call this trail kid friendly personally. Older kids with good endurance can do it fine, my 15 year old loved it. My 10 year old and 3 year old both were not having it. They did it but I don't think I will take them again This hike is fine with little kids if you can carry them. Its rocky, steep and has no shade. I prefer this trail in early morning, just after sunrise. Great Trail for pets and great for an adult only hike or even a good trail run. Lots of uphills to smoke your legs and the downhill is a blast. Would recommend trail shoes for the downhill run but not necessary.

It was a steep trail for a 4 year old he tripped on the rocks a bunch, beautiful views, very sunny for midday hiking and hot probably better to do in early am or early evening with young kids or dogs.

Trail was wide with plenty of room to pass. Steep the last 1/4 mile. Rock at times and beautiful views!

Beautiful view. Just moved to the area and we've done the hike twice-- each time it's been 1 hour 15 minutes both up and down, plus about 10-15 minutes at the top. Great views, worth the climb.

A nice trail with easy access but far too crowded for this Covid-19 time. I will come back when Covid-19 is no longer a threat. Going the other direction away from Table Rock was a nice easy hike with far fewer people.

To the lady that told me to keep 6 feet away while passing her: 1) You should wear a mask. 2) don’t hike public trails if you want to keep 6 feet away from people.
