Typically a very busy trail used by young and old alike. There are some very steep sections but also other routes to mitigate these. Cell service throughout entire hike. City overlook over the majority of the hike. Main features "the Cross" and "quarry". Can also drive to top to main view. Little to NO shade, no water, takes an average person about 45mins to 1hr to hike to the top. Hike to the top and return though there are multiple routes you can take up and back.

Great hike...it was a good workout. There were a lot of people. I went on a 62 degree day so the weather was perfect, it’d be a much tougher hike on a hot day. Overall it was a good experience. I would imagine it’s prettier as you get into spring, everything was still pretty brown.

P.S. I didn’t find the graffiti to be much of an eyesore as mentioned by other reviewers.

Great to do with kids on a cloudy day. If it’s too sunny I could see how it would be too much for sun exposure and get sunburned. It’s a good pleasure hike with a nice view :)

I wouldn't call it a hike so much as a leg stretcher. Gravel dirt path meandering to the table. The view was pretty great, and the kids enjoyed clambering amongst the rocks, which is great if you don't mind the dangers of horrendous amount of shattered glass littering the whole underside of the table. In the end, we walked away with some decent photos.

Great for a 50 degree day, no shade, so it could be very hot in the summer. Could be very challenging, but doable, for kiddos.

Had a great time hiking. We went before the big snowfall. It’s a decent workout-gets your lungs cleared up! Great short workout before the holiday eating.

Not a bad hike. Great view of the valley. Very crowded with a lot of dogs and owners not picking up after them so watch your step. It was fun.

Fun to hike with so many others enjoying. Great View, free parking, restroom ( although stinky) at trail head.

Super easy and quick hike. And only barely a ten minute drive from downtown. So beautiful. Hands down recommend, especially for those in and out of Boise quickly for a work trip or something.

the hiking was okay. Very popular so lots of traffic. Very dirty at the top. Cigarette butts and graffiti. not worth the hike for me.

Pretty views of the city, definitely steep in some places but doable even if inexperienced. Hardest part of the hike was the heat!

Wooeeee! This hike was a bit more than I anticipated. Know that there are two paths, one easier than the other. The easier route will take you in what appears to be the wrong direction at first, but you'll get there. Nice view at the top, definitely worth the struggle.

Great hike with beautiful views, and it's only a 10 minute drive from downtown!

A staple hike for Boise. It's probably the most high trafficked Trail to locals and tourists. It's a solid hike that's lots of fine and still challenging! A must if you're in Boise.

I loved this easy/moderate trail even though am not used to any altitude. it was hot at midday but still busy. Consider bringing a trash bag and doing a good deed. The caves and rocks below are full or trash and the trail literally glistens with broken glass. Trash cans are at the top. No shade, no water. Beautiful views of Boise.

As far a scenery is concerned this is a fairly average desert trail with a really good view at the end. The fact you can drive to the top makes it slightly less rewarding but the climb is respectable on the steep side. Nice place to watch the sun go down or talk to some fellow hikers as there are always quite a few. There are a few interesting birds and other wildlife but don't expect numbers like more remote trails.

Great hike. Lots of different paths to reach the top. Once there, enjoy the caves below. Lots to explore. Our family does this hike all the time.

The best time to hike is either in the spring when the hill side is full of green grass or on a summer morning when it's not so hot.
