Nice, short ATV trail with views of First Peak and the Camas Prairie. Rocky in sections but overall well maintained. Stick to the downstream side while crossing the S Fork Soldier Creek crossing. Best in May/June and autumn while the dust is low and the aspens turn respectively. Cell service is available along this trail at certain sections and is very strong near the yurt.

This was super fun trail. I did it with my family. Just a heads up it is an ATV trail so it’s not just hiking. We had several vehicles pass us while hiking. There was still a good amount of snow. We got 3.5 miles in and the snow started to get deep and covered the whole trail. We decided to turn around because we weren’t prepared for that much snow. This would be a great place to hike in late June or July. You walk right along the creek and then start to go up into the mountain and see this amazing view!

This hike was a lot of fun. I took my family on the trail. My daughter 17, my son 14, and a son 11. I suggest starting at free gold Creek Trail head and hiking around the mountain.
