HikingGreat!

Would have been a five star but a little more foot traffic than I prefer. Overall, a great hike with great views throughout and little to no elevation change. Multiple opportunities to get in the water for kids and dogs (perhaps yourself). Definitely plan on doing it again as you can tag on additional trails.

We started from the Gilmore Campground and hiked the side trails TO the start of THIS trail. I recorded it so you can follow. Beautiful hike right next to the lake! Lots of spots to put your feet in! Dogs LOVED it!

Loved this trail loop, both right on the lake and in the forest above. Beautiful and peaceful.

Nice trail with good views of the lake on the lower portion of the loop. Lower part of the loop is narrow with drop offs. No big deal for most people though, just an issue for littles. Wasn’t ideal for our 2 year old so carried him in the back pack. Upper portion is more like an unused road then a trail. We had to start the trail from the boat launch on the other side as the road to the original trail head was closed.

Shorline connects with some other trails that will take you onto the little island...and then up...it all depends on where you park and how far you want to hike but Shoreline is beautiful- stick on the path closest to the water and go around the loop over to where you'll go all the way around to the little island and half way around that inlet. Then loop around or turn around and go back. Alternatively go the other way toward Hudson Bay Road and hike til that trail ends. I normally start in that parking area and hike all the way around. Beautiful colors. Best in autumn. Also great kayaking place- current is strong though so be prepared for a workout!

Perfect over cast day. The water was perfect temp, took the dog & played with other dogs along the way. Wasn’t too steep anywhere, perfect to take your family. Checked out the picnic area, lots of shade and benches. The railing at the top of the stairs looked like it rooted away so be careful not to lean up against it. Beautiful scenery!

Absolutely beautiful views of the lake and surrounding areas. The trail is very well kept. It’s the perfect trail if you’re in the mood for something easy and pretty. It’s great for the kids and small dogs! I started going down by the water, so I ended going on the high side through the trees on the wider trail. I’d say the part of the trail through the trees was a little boring. I would do it again, but maybe only if I was short on time or going to a specific destination. Beautiful trail.

Lots of trails. Great for the kids. nothing to steep. We didn't take the Original trail we intended too. We did get into some fun trails however.

I've done this several times/connected it to other trails- Farragut is beautiful! Even with the drive I go back pretty often. I also have a kayak so a hike followed by a bit of time on the lake makes for a perfect weekend day!

Nice views of the lake and forest area. Saw some geese and goslings swimming. Came across some animal bones along the rocky shores, and smelled something rotting just off the trail on the lakeside (confirmed by flies and scavenger birds). Forest side of the loop was perfect for kids, and close enough that you still could see the lake for a good portion of the trail. Lake side of the loop was too narrow and uneven for small children, but it was pretty. Steady footed children who know how to watch their steps and stay away from the ledge would enjoy the lake side. Younger or less experienced children would do better to walk the forest side to the eagle boat launch and then back the same way on the forest side.

Beautiful walk on a sunny April day! I saw one other person; it was so quiet. I walked by a bald eagle feeding on a deer carcass, very close to the trail.

Great midday stop for brief walk with dog on a road trip across country. Off leash time for dog was nice. Had lunch on the sandy beach. Very few people in mid week.
